Detective Constable - British Transport Police

Detective Constable Rob Mercer began his policing career in 2016 when he joined Kent Police. During his time there, he worked in Maidstone as a frontline officer before moving to the Vulnerable Investigation Team (VIT), where he investigated domestic violence offences. Rob transferred to the British Transport Police (BTP) in 2019 and was quickly selected to join the County Lines Task Force (CLTF). While on the CLTF, he worked both as a proactive officer and as an investigating officer focusing on County Lines criminality. Rob now serves within the Cyber Digital Hub (CDH), investigating cyber incidents and conducting digital forensic analysis. He is also one of the force’s Victim Identification Officers (VID), working alongside other forces to identify victims of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).” In 2025 was awarded Detective Investigation of the Year at the British Transport Police Federation Awards of Excellence.
