Vanessa is a highly experienced employment law specialist with over 20 years’ experience advising employers, boards and senior individuals on employment law and related governance matters.
Through her work across a number of leading law firms, Vanessa has built a strong reputation for delivering successful outcomes on complex and sensitive matters. Her expertise spans employment law, inclusion and diversity, HR, and trade union matters, including disputes, strike ballots and collective bargaining. She also has extensive experience in litigation and dispute resolution, including High Court proceedings, board governance, and cross‑sector advisory work.
Vanessa is regularly instructed on high‑profile and uniquely complex cases, including supporting and managing independent investigations, acting as an independent investigator where appropriate, and advising on the establishment of employment‑related public inquiries.
Her work has been recognised by Legal 500, which has described Vanessa as an “outstanding partner” with “excellent business acumen” and extensive experience in employment law and HR matters.
In addition to her advisory work, Vanessa has contributed to a wide range of publications, including The Times, Personnel Today, HR Magazine and The Telegraph, and has received ongoing recognition through Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners.
Vanessa also brings significant governance experience, with over 15 years as a non‑executive director and trustee. She has served on the boards of Riversmeade Housing Association (Network Housing) and the University of Westminster, and she is currently Chair of Hyelm, a charity providing affordable housing for young people in London.
